Today, I want to talk to you about an “Escape Island” that you and I create to deal with challenges. Each one of us deals with adversity in a different way.

So, let me tell you about my dear old friend Adversity, and how did I deal with having such a friend in my life in the past

I met Adversity at a very young age, and I can honestly tell you, it is the only loyal friend that I had over the years. It refused to leave my side and abandon me

In my book “Shift to Shine: Bridging Science and Intuition” I wrote about how I dealt with challenges by jumping into study or work. Here is an excerpt from Chapter 5:

“Looking back at my life, it seems to me that it has been a series of challenges and stresses for as long as I can remember. As a child, I lived in a highly stressful environment, where I grew up in an emotionally and mentally stressful household. With no leisure time either at school or home, I threw myself into studying, and to tell you the truth; it was my way of dealing with stress at home. This tool of jumping from one kind of stress into another accompanied me through my life and over time, I established a pattern of jumping into study or work as my “Escape Island” to deal with emotional or mental stress.”

Now, it is your turn. What was your escape Island? Was it work, alcohol, smoking, drugs or eating?

I would love to hear from you, so share your experience with the rest of us
