Raja Mishal, Ph.D. is a Canadian Transformational Speaker, Author, Trainer and Parent-Family Consultant and Coach. Her passion is to help families create positive family dynamics and shift negative family cultures and patterns to create a legacy that will last for generations to come. She is the author of “Shift to Shine: Bridging Science and Intuition”, and the forthcoming books “Make Up or Break Up: Parent the Child Within Before Being a Parent”, and “Hope Rises: The Power of Taking Actions”.
Raja Mishal, Ph.D. is a Canadian Transformational Speaker, writer, and a Parent-Family Consultant and Coach. She is a graduate of the Medical School at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Her doctoral thesis was in the fields of Molecular Biology, Molecular Genetics, and Neurobiology which earned her two National awards for her research work. As a Neurobiologist, her research focused on understanding how neurons in the brain make connections during early stages of development. Little that she knew then that her research work has paved the way for her work today.
Dr. Raja worked as a Director of the Transplant Laboratory at Capital Health District Authority and as an Assistant Professor at the Pathology Department of the Medical School at Dalhousie University in Halifax. Years of training in the scientific field had established her logical, analytical and critical thinking while working in a clinical setup gave her the opportunity to be of service for others and make a difference in peoples’ lives.
At the highest point of an extremely successful and stressful career, Raja collapsed due to extreme emotional stress, and the huge demands on her as a wife, mother, and a successful professional woman. She suddenly was facing a health crisis that put her off work for two years and forced her to have a radical change in her life. That is when she embarked on her transformational journey to live a mindful, less stressed and happier passionate life. This experience made her appreciate the importance of building strong family bonds with her children while finding balance as a working parent.
In her book “Shift to Shine: Bridging Science and Intuition”, Dr. Raja offered a new approach to dealing with stress based on her own personal experience growing up in the Middle East, training as a molecular geneticist and as an energy healing expert. She provided a 3-simple step system that helps individuals explore the energetic root cause of stress and offer strategies to help heal family and personal relationships.
Today, Raja is on a mission to help working professional parents avoid the very same challenges that she went through by helping them reduce family stress and anxiety levels to find balance and harmony, and to create strong family bonds and meaningful relationships that will make them reach their full potential in life and shift their legacy for generations to come.
Raja is a recipient of many national and local awards including:
Canadian Foundation of Innovation Research Grant, New Opportunities Fund Award; Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Postdoctoral Fellowship, Postdoctoral Fellowship; Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Postdoctoral Fellowship, Postdoctoral Fellowship; Nova Scotia Health Research Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship, Cancer Care and Education (CaRE) Nova Scotia Postdoctoral Fellowship, and the Arthur W. Ham Graduate Student Award, Canadian Association for Anatomy, Neurobiology, and Cell Biology. She has also received a distinguished student’s award from Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Scientific Research when she was studying at Kuwait University. She has authored and co-authored several publications that were published in peer-reviewed reputable scientific journals where one of her publications has won her an Outstanding Research Publication Award that was awarded by the Canadian Association of Anatomy, Neurobiology, and Cell Biology.
